Fashion Tips for Women with “Nothing to Wear”

Fashion Tips for Women with “Nothing to Wear”

Have you ever walked into your closet and been enraged at the fact that you have so many clothes, yet nothing to wear? Well, there is a way around this. You simply just need to create new outfits.

Fashion Tips for Women with “Nothing to Wear”

Fashion is one of our favorite topics here at Medicare Beauty! That’s why we have decided to let you in on some of our fashion tips.

Have you ever walked into your closet and been enraged at the fact that you have so many clothes, yet nothing to wear? Well, there is a way around this. You simply just need to create new outfits.

We all have our favorite pieces that go perfectly together. Instead of using that blouse or those pants to make a completely new outfit, we stick to the same ten outfits we always wear.

But not anymore! Now you will have these fashion tips to help guide you through your closet and look at your clothes in a whole new way.

1. Don’t Be Afraid to Be Bold

Fashion tips bold

Bright colors and big patterns can intimidate some people, so they just steer clear of them at all costs. But if you knew how to pair them together, you might reconsider.

Begin stepping out of your comfort zone by pairing one patterned piece with a solid piece. An easy outfit choice would be to match a pinstriped pair of pants with a solid colored shirt.

If you want to jazz it up a bit, go with a blouse that has some flared sleeves or a cute collar.

If you’re ready to leap out of your comfort zone, do the same thing, but add in bright pops of color. Be extravagant! Have fun with it but remember not to overdo it. An outfit like this is best done at most once a week.

Fashion tips detail

2. Details Make A Difference

You can turn a “eh” outfit into a “WOW” outfit by simply adding one piece of clothing or jewelry. It’s all in the details. By adding a blazer that has a cool piping detail, your outfit can go from drab to fab!

If blazers aren’t your thing (they should be) then choose an eye-catching earring or necklace instead. No matter what you add, be sure to select something that you won’t hate by the end of the day.

Nothing ruins a piece of fashion more than the fact that it’s uncomfortable. That will send it straight to the back of your closet!

fashion tips neutrals

3. Necessary Neutrals

Speaking of pieces that you can re-purpose – Neutrals are a perfect example!

Every woman needs neutrals in their life.

My favorite piece of clothing that I own is a pair of a neutral colored pants. They are high-wasted with a tie belt, much like the ones in the picture.

Neutrals are great for creating new outfits. There is almost and endless amount of possibilities for a neutral colored piece of clothing.

fashion tips simple

4. Simplicity Can Be Hard

As women, we have a knack for over-complicating things. We look in the mirror, think, “There’s something missing.” Then we add extra accessories or layers that end up ruining a perfectly fine outfit.

I know this because I use to do this! I worked at a clothing store that made us wear 4-5 layers. That’s insane. Granted, the first layer was usually hidden because it was an undershirt, but still.

One of the best fashion tips I can give you is, when all else fails, keep it simple. You can do this by pairing a pair of jeans with a nice, solid top. These types of outfits will help you get out the door quicker too.

fashion tips statement

5. Statement Pieces Are A Girl’s Best Friend

Occasionally, it’s fun to be a showstopper. Maybe you’re not in the mood for simplicity. Maybe you’re in the mood for “oo la la”. Then you could add a statement piece to your outfit.

Whether you add a beautiful, big necklace or your top itself is the showstopper, you can always feel pretty with a statement piece on.

Find the piece in your closet that you never wear because you got it for that one thing at that one place that you think is too fancy and put it on! You can dress things down just like you can dress things up.

Organize Your Closet

I’ve learned that some people organize their closet by hanging the pieces of each outfit together so that they can grab the three hangers next to each other and go. However helpful this may be, it is damaging your ability to interchange certain pieces of clothing in your closet.

If you organize your closet in categories rather than outfits, you’ll learn that you have much more options. Put your tops on one side, your bottoms on another, and your outer layers on another.

By doing this, you aren’t limiting your number of outfits to just a few. You’ll become more creative when choosing your outfit. Thus, having more outfit choices.

Interior Design Tips for Safe Navigation Throughout Your Home

Let’s face it. We get clumsy with age. According to the National Council on Aging, among elderly adults, the most common fatal and non-fatal traumatic injury is falls. Interior design tips can help.

Being a senior doesn’t necessarily mean that you are bound to fall. There are many reasons for our clumsiness. Sudden symptoms from things like heart disease, respiratory disease, and osteoporosis can definitely cause us to fall.

However, those are not always the cause. Seniors tend fall more often than not due to clutter, stairs, and slippery floors.

Since these are types of fall that we can prevent, we have put together helpful interior design tips for safe navigation throughout your home.

Lighting is Key

Interior Design TipsTrying to move blindly through a space is challenging for anyone. Imagine blindfolding yourself and walking through a maze. You’d hit a wall about every five seconds. I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t sound very fun to me.

Now imagine being blindfolded while walking through your home. Think about all the pieces of furniture you could kick, bump, and even flip over. This is why having decent lighting throughout every room is the most important tip on this post!

Have a lamp around every corner that doesn’t have a light switch for the room. If you’re in a room that has a light switch on the opposite side of the room, such as your bedroom, put a lamp nearby that can help guide the way to the light switch.

Natural lighting is always a plus as well. One, because during the day it helps you to use less electricity. And two, because it of course adds more light to the space.

Clear Your Path

Hallways are the perfect trap for bumping into things. Hallways are usually very narrow spaces that we feel the need to place bulky tables and decoration. Instead of trying to maneuver through the chaos, clear your hallway.

Doing this leaves less room for hurting yourself and ultimately falling, and more room for walking.

Interior Design Tips for Your Living Room

Interior Design Tips

Seating

There are many things you can do to your living room to make it more navigable. First, start off by giving yourself seating options. What I mean by this is choose about three main pieces that allow you to change how you sit.

Of course, you have your comfy couch, but add a firm arm chair so you have a variety of surfaces. You might also want to add a reclining chair. That way you have a comfortable solution to relax on those days you’re feeling sore.

Be sure that when you are placing furniture in a space to not over do it. If the area simply doesn’t allow you to have three big pieces, don’t force them to fit. If you avoid clutter, you will avoid falls.

Tables

Interior design tipsAttempt to find round side tables rather than square or rectangle tables. The reason for this tip is that it always hurts much more ramming your leg or hip into a corner than it does when you hit a rounder edge.

A great alternative to a rectangle coffee table is an oversized ottoman. You can place a decorative try on it to make up for the loss of the coffee table. Cushioned ottomans are also great because if you do ever hit your leg on in, it won’t hurt at all.

Find the Right Floorplan

The best floorplan for us aging adults is a flat one. The less hazard for tripping the better. So, try to eliminate the using the stairs in your home if you aren’t confident you’ll make it to the top.

Like I’ve said in a past post, I’m an advocate for using the stairs to get some exercise in for the day, but if it means risking injury, just avoid them.

Last but Certainly Not Least

The bathroom. The easiest place of all to experience a fall. Even though, the changes to a bathroom to prevent falling are obvious, I still feel obligated to mentioned them.

However unappealing they may be, install grab bars near your toilet and in your shower. These alone could be a life saver.

Slipping in the shower is not fun! Especially if you are elderly and can’t help yourself back up. Get a non-slip rubber bath mat to place in the floor of your shower.

Also, try to prevent yourself from having to get on your tip toes to reach something. Place everything at an easy to reach level to ensure that you aren’t straining your back. Thus, preventing a fall.

How to Apply for Medicare

How to Apply for Medicare

With all the choices, Medicare can drive people to insanity. Before you let the stress of choosing what type of coverage you want, complete your first step and simply apply for Medicare.

How to Apply for Medicare

With all the choices, Medicare can drive people to insanity. Before you let the stress of choosing what type of coverage you want, complete your first step and simply apply for Medicare.

From what I have learned, if you are already taking out Social Security benefits prior to becoming eligible for Medicare and you qualify for free Part A, you will be auto enrolled into Medicare Part A and Part B.

However, if you aren’t taking your benefits yet, you’ll need to apply yourself. Here’s how to apply for Medicare.

Apply Online

Other than being auto enrolled, applying online is the easiest way to apply for Medicare. It’s quick and simple, and you don’t have to stand in line or wait on hold for an hour.

First, go to ssa.gov and press menu. This will bring up a whole slew of items. You’ll see in the “Benefits” section at the top the word “Medicare”. Click it!

Next, scroll down to the section that says, “How To Apply Online For Just Medicare”. You should see a blue box that says, “Apply for Medicare Only”, press that.

Then, on the next page press “Start a New Application”. From there, simply complete the online application and wait for your Medicare ID card to be mailed to you.

Apply in Person

Position number three on our “Easy to Difficult” scale is applying for Medicare in person. Visit your local Social Security office and let them know that you would like to apply for Medicare.

Once you have finished applying, you can ask the representative to print you off a piece of paper stating that you have applied for Medicare.

This paper should have your Medicare ID number and other helpful information you can keep on hand until you get your actual Medicare ID care in the mail.

Apply by Phone

The final and most difficult way to apply for Medicare is by phone. Not only is this way difficult but it can take you weeks to fully complete the process.

Start by calling the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213. Explain to them that you’d like to apply for Medicare. Depending on how busy they are, you may have to sit on hold or schedule a telephone appointment to complete your application at a later time.

The Social Security office will have to mail you forms to complete that you will then have to mail back to them. This only could take a couple of weeks. After that is done, sit back and wait for your Medicare ID card to be mailed to you.

If you want to apply for Medicare by phone, I’d suggest doing it as soon as you become eligible. That way you can get your coverage on time.

You’re Done!

See, applying for Medicare is a lot easier than most of us make it out to be. I think the reason the majority of us panic about Medicare is because it’s new – it’s change. No one enjoys change.

When you take a step back and look at the big picture, applying for Medicare is one of the smallest changes a person will make in a lifetime.

How To Stay Healthy: Tips That Can Save Your Life

The overall idea of being “healthy” in America is severely misconstrued. Most people think that in order to stay fit and healthy you have to live at the gym and only eat things that are green. Knowing the simple ways on how to stay healthy can literally save your life.

An astonishing eighty percent of Americans are considered to be physically inactive. That’s 260,560,000 people total. Absolutely mind blowing!

This issue in America is more important than just us being lazy. On average, the United States incurs 678,000 deaths every year due to diseases relating to poor health.

Diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and type 2 diabetes are all examples of diseases that these people could have prevented by simply living a healthier lifestyle.

Here are some ideas on how to stay healthy.

how to stay healthy

Diets Aren’t All They’re Cracked Up to Be

The term “diet” is thrown around like confetti now days. The fact of the matter is, you are more likely to quit a six-month diet within the first few weeks than you are to stick with it.

To diet means to begin a regimen of eating sparingly to reduce one’s weight. But losing weight isn’t what we’re talking about. We are talking about getting and staying healthy. Diet also means the type of food that someone habitually eats. This is what you should aim for.

Your goal shouldn’t be to diet for a few months. It should be to eat better, period. Don’t set yourself up for failure. Instead of making a diet change, make a lifestyle change. People who are fit and stay in shape, don’t go on these insane, unrealistic diets. They simply eat better than the rest of us.

how to stay healthyCheat Days Are Okay

One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone is on a diet and I go to offer them something that isn’t part of the diet and they bite my head off! To the person on the diet, calm down. We aren’t offering you a bomb. And to the sweet person making a generous gesture, don’t fret, more for you!

It’s okay to have a few slip ups in your life, including your diet. If you continuously deny yourself a delicious snack every now and again, you will begin to resent your diet, and guess what…YOU’LL QUIT! And that’s not how to stay healthy.

Simplify Your WorkoutsHow to stay healthy

If you dread working out, don’t! There are many ways around going to the gym to lift weights and work yourself to death. For instance, we all watch Netflix, right? Well, it’s just as easy to walk around your neighborhood and watch Netflix on your phone as it is to sit on your couch and watch Netflix.

One of my favorite ways to “workout” is to trick myself into it. When I go to the outlet mall, I end up walking a couple of miles in a very short amount of time. And I don’t even realize I’m doing it.

Just get up and move. Sitting around is exactly how we have reached such an astonishing number of deaths due to poor health.

How to stay healthyTake the Stairs

I am a big fan of always taking the stairs. This is another way you can trick yourself into working out.

Now, if you have to travel up fifteen flights of stairs to get where you are going, I understand. Take the elevator!

Or if you have a serious health condition, take the elevator. However, if you have the choice between a few stairs and an elevator, take the stairs!

How to stay healthyCreate a Better Sleep Schedule

People these days blame their lack of energy on a lot of things and yes there can be many reasons why you’re so tired. One thing they don’t realize is that they go to bed at midnight every night just to wake up at five in the morning to start their day.

Some don’t even wake up until close to noon. Too much sleep can make you just as dreary as too little sleep.

A better sleep habit will make you more alert during the day. Even better than that, it will make you a happier person. You and the people around you will benefit for that.

Habits Are Easy to CreateHow to stay healthy: Form a habit

So do you know how to stay healthy? Form good habits. Some of the easiest habits to create are the worst kinds. Habits such as smoking, drinking, eating poorly, and being lazy are all quick and easy habits to form.

Do you know why?

Because we do them every day! That’s how you form a habit. You may start by saying, “I’ll just pick up some fast food on the way home.” Then a few days later, it happens again. And before you know it at least one of your meals everyday is a fast food meal.

Start with one goal at a time. Maybe choose trying to sleep better first. Commit to practicing that for a month of two. Once that habit has been formed, move to the next. Set realistic goals and don’t give up the first time to fail.

Does Medicare Cover Botox?

Does Medicare Cover Botox?

Looking to get Botox? Here you can read my friends story about her Botox adventure. If you are interested in having work done, you should know how Medicare covers it.

Does Medicare Cover Botox?

The other day I was talking with a friend (for privacy reasons I won’t state her name) that wanted to get Botox injections for her wrinkles. I told her that she didn’t need it and that her wrinkles were barely noticeable, but she didn’t believe me.

She was always the friend that got into the latest trend or fad. She always wanted to try everything that the celebrities were trying.

Even after my persistent discouragement, she insisted that she was going to set up an appointment soon and get it done.

I said to her, “Well, if you’re going to be stubborn, at least let me help you.”

I had remembered reading something about how Medicare didn’t cover any Botox treatment. Medicare, being her primary insurance, I wanted to make sure that she wasn’t going to be bankrupt after this unnecessary procedure of hers.

So, I decided to do a bit more research for her. From what I found on medicare.gov and other reputable sites, Medicare might pay for Botox treatment.

When Does Medicare Pay for Botox?

Medicare has a rule they follow when it comes to covering a procedure or treatment. According to Medicare’s website, Medicare pays for things that are medically necessary.

As many of us know, getting Botox injections to hide wrinkles, is not medically necessary. No matter how much my friend thinks it is.

If you were getting Botox for something like migraines, then Medicare, from my understanding, would cover it.

Bearer of Bad News

I feel like I’m always the bearer of bad news, but I’d rather give bad news that protect my friends than good news that wasn’t true.

I called my friend to give her the unfortunate information. She was upset to say the least.

The first words out of her mouth were, “What? Are you kidding me?”

I tried to calm her down by explaining it how I had come to understand it. Obviously, I’m not a Botox expert, nor a Medicare expert. That’s when I sent her the links that I had found to reassure her that the information I was feeding her was accurate.

I also sent her to a page I stumbled upon during my research. It was about an insurance brokerage that seemed to know the facts. I figured, don’t take it from me, take it from an expert in the field of Medicare.

Happy Ending

After she verified what I had been telling her was true, she canceled her appointment.

I like to think that she canceled the appointment one, because it would be too expensive, and two, because she knew that she didn’t need Botox to be beautiful.

We had lunch the next day at our favorite little bistro and she said to me, “I don’t know what I was thinking. I don’t need Botox. I need a face lift!” She shouted. “That’s surgery, so Medicare must cover it.”

As I chuckled, I leaned to her, grabbed her hand and said, “Honey, if Medicare doesn’t cover something as simple as a Botox injection, it isn’t going to pay for cosmetic surgery.”

Makeup Tips for Older Women

Makeup Tips for Older Women

Knowing how to do your makeup as you reach your golden years can keep you looking as young as you did ten years ago. These makeup tips could be just what you need for finding your love for makeup again.

Makeup Tips for Older Women

Applying makeup is a tricky process regardless of how old you are. However, as we age the actual act becomes a little bit more difficult. Knowing how to do your makeup as you reach your golden years can keep you looking as young as you did ten years ago. These makeup tips could be just what you need for finding your love for makeup again.

Makeup Tips for Moisturizer

One of the most important keys to applying perfect makeup is your skin! That’s right, you need to first prepare your skin before you do anything.

The more mature our skin gets, the less oil it produces. Thus, making our face quite dry. Applying foundation to dry, cracked skin is basically pointless because your skin will end up looking worse than it did before by the end of the day.

That’s why moisturizer should be your best friend! We should get in the habit of applying moisturizer every day, but we should especially do it prior to putting our face on in the morning.

Makeup Tips for Primer

Now that our face is baby smooth (sort of), we can apply our primer. Primer is what will hold our makeup throughout the day. I don’t care what foundation you use, if you plan on wearing it from morning to night, if you don’t use a primer, it’s going to fade away.

Some primers even have a sun protection factor (SPF). Protecting our skin from the sun is a very critical thing, particularly in our older years.

The SPF feature is half the reason I even use primer. I’m not a huge fan of putting sunscreen on my face. To me, it’s icky. Not to mention it can clog your pores.

Makeup tips foundationMakeup Tips for Foundation

I feel that these first three tips are the most crucial makeup tips for older women, or for anyone for that matter. Without a good moisturizer, primer, and foundation you are already making it more difficult on yourself. These three things alone can make or break your makeup look.

There are quite a few foundations in the world that are specialized for more mature skin. I have picked out a few top-rated foundations to recommend.

  • Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick
  • Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Aging Perfector
  • Estée Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Serum

Although, each one of these foundations have their own different benefit, they are all great choices.

Bobbi Brown

The Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick is the most convenient option. Because it’s stick form, you are able to take it on the go and reapply it if needed. It’s also the least messy. Use the stick to apply the foundation to your face, then simply use a brush to blend it in.

Neutrogena

Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Anti-Aging Perfector is great for covering those pesky wrinkles. Since it has the amazing ingredient, retinol, it also works to reverse those said wrinkles. The retinol increases your collagen production while you wear the foundation.

This is a foundation that we recommend you use a primer with SPF before applying. Although a fantastic ingredient, retinol causes sensitivity to the sun.

Estée Lauder

It’s in the name, “Anti-Aging”. Those two magical words can be what pulls you to this option. You might have heard of the remarkable Estée Lauder Perfectionist serum. This foundation is that, turned into a foundation.

This foundation will tighten up wrinkles and leave your skin looking much more plump and youthful. Another great aspect of this foundation is that it has SPF 25! That’s fantastic!

makeup tips brushesMakeup Tips for Makeup Brushes

Before we move on, let’s talk about the oh so important, brushes!

Picking out the perfect brushes for your products can sometimes be stressful, I know it is for me. The right brush depends on what type of products you are using. All the way from the type of foundation you use to the type of eye shadow, your brushes should reflect that.

Although there are many forms of brushes, there are two main types of brushes, synthetic and natural.

Natural Brushes

Natural Brushes are usually made from animal fur. As saddening as that is, they are still used for applying powder-based products.

People use natural brushes for these types of products because their bristles have cuticles. Cuticles make for an easier pick-up process of the powder. These brushes allow for a seamless blend on your face.

The properties that make these brushes good for powder products are the exact properties that make then a less than perfect choice for liquid products.

Synthetic Brushes

This style of brush’s popularity continues to grow as more people are going the vegan route. Synthetic brushes are made from manmade bristles such as nylon.

The synthetic fibers of these brushes sink together, creating a firmer foundation of bristles. With that said, I’m sure you can guess what type of product synthetic brushes should be used for. Yep, liquid! These brushes are ideal for working with the recommended foundations mentioned above.

makeup tips concealerMakeup Tips for Under Eye Concealer

No matter your age, if you don’t get enough sleep, you are bound to have dark circles under your eyes. And as many of you know, sleep seems to diminish as we age. This is why having a decent under-eye concealer is imperative for looking your best.

You want to make sure you aren’t clumping it on. If you used to much, it will look cakey and nobody wants that! Also, be careful on which type of powder you place over your concealer. You should use a setting powder, preferably a transparent one.

If you use your powder foundation over your under-eye concealer, the powder will settle into your fine lines and will emphasize the features you are trying to hide.

makeup tips contourContouring: Yes or No?

The main purpose of contouring is to have our face resemble a slimmer shape and accentuate certain features of our face.

However, when we reach our golden years, some of our faces begin to slim out due to the droopiness of our skin. This is why you should ask yourself, “Do I need to contour my face?”. If you already have a natural contour, you won’t want to add contour to it or you might make yourself look sickly.

Another reason why older women might not want to contour is because, well, basically, it takes a lot of extra time! This illusion sometimes just isn’t worth the time it takes to apply.

But, if you do decide to contour, start off light and build to the desired tone. It’s a lot easier to put more make up on than to take some makeup off.

makeup tips blushMakeup Tips for Blush

Applying blush is a pretty simple task, so I won’t take too long on it.

First thing first, please do not apply your blush right below your eyes! Blush is meant to go towards the bottom of the apple of your cheek. Try not to use too dark of shades or too bright of shades. Sometimes subtlety is key.

Makeup Tips for Eye Shadow

The color of eye shadow you should try to use depends on what color your eyes are. Remember the color wheel from elementary school? Well, it comes in handy when figuring out the perfect undertones you should look for in eyeshadow.

Usually, whatever color is directly opposite of your eye color on the color wheel is the shade of eye shadow you should apply. Of course, we don’t recommend green eyed people wear bright red every day, so don’t take this too literal.

Here are some examples of what shades go with certain eye colors.

makeup tips eye shadow

Makeup Tips for Eyeliner

The two types of eyeliner we’ll discuss are the two most popular, pencil and felt tip markers. I feel that these two versions of eyeliner are the easiest to handle. Therefore, making them great options for older women.

Personally, I like felt tip eyeliner markers, but I know many of you probably prefer the old-fashioned pencil version. Eyeliner pencils can be great, but for me to use a pencil it must be soft. Many pencils are very, well, pencil like and are too rough against my eyelids.

Felt tip markers on the other hand are very gentle. And you won’t have to worry about sharpening it over and over again. I hate that!

Makeup Tips for Mascara

Last but certainly not least, mascara! Some people go completely without any mascara at all. To me, personally, if you have your entire face made up and don’t have any mascara on, your look looks incomplete.

Although I think mascara is an essential part of makeup, I don’t think you should lather it on. Sometimes less is more. There are about three to four different shades of black in most mascaras. If you are hesitant to use mascara because you’re afraid of how dark it will make your eyes seem, try a lighter color.

To differentiate your look from day to day, try mascara on both top and bottom, then the next day try mascara just on your top eye lashes.

TA-DA!

Now you have multiple ideas on how to do your makeup. These makeup tips may not be how you like to apply your makeup, they’re here if you’d like to give them a go.

Everyone has their own style when it comes to makeup. It’s good to be open to new tips and tricks. Who knows? You just might like it!

Each one of my top five favorite places for inexpensive home decor are listed below. They all offer greats discounts and have a variety of categories to choose from.

Join me on a virtual adventure to admire some of the best places to buy inexpensive home decor!

At home Inexpensive Home Decor

At Home is the new storefront of Garden Ridge. Although I enjoyed Garden Ridge, I love At Home even more. One of my favorite things about At Home is the fact that they do such an amazing job at coordinating their products with the current season.

At Home decor Inexpensive home decorThey have everything from small knick-knacks to big outdoor furniture. Shopping here could mean an all-day trip and your might end up needing a trailer to haul everything home. One day I went in for a new lamp and left with a queen size bedframe. That bedframe was originally only $100, but because it was discounted, I only spent about $70 after tax.

At Home makes finding discounts fun. They place signs throughout their store with barcodes and a colored slashed through them. Each colored slash determines a certain percentage off. For instance, a green slash sometimes me 70% off!

Hobby Lobby Inexpensive Home Decor

Of course, Hobby Lobby is mainly known for the crafts supplies. However, I have a slight addiction with Hobby Lobby when it comes to their home decor.

Farmhouse home decor Inexpensive home decorThis store is a great place for the latest home decor trend! Farmhouse style home decor has taken over and Hobby Lobby is the perfect place to find everything you need to make the image in your head come alive.

Unlike a few of the other places on this list, Hobby Lobby is constantly having sales. Around nearly every corner you will see a 50% off discount sign. They rotate their 50% discounts to different categories ever so often. So, if the piece you want isn’t 50% off currently, it will be eventually. While they’re rare, I have even seen discounts as much as 90% off before.

Hobby Lobby coupon Inexpensive home decor

Hobby Lobby has some of the most attainable coupons and they are usually always 40% off coupons. Very rarely have I have bought anything from Hobby Lobby without it being discounted either from the store discount or a coupon discount.

Tj maxx Inexpensive Home Decor

A recently new favorite place of mine to buy inexpensive home decor is TJ Maxx. This store has a wide assortment of products, but the home decor section is definitely my preferred part of the store.

Tj maxx Inexpensive home decorTJ Maxx doesn’t necessarily have discounts on top of their ticket prices because their products are already discounted. However, the prices you’ll see on the price tags are nearly jaw dropping. It’s amazing how low they get sometimes.

The selection of furniture they have at TJ Maxx is more on the modern side and is beautiful! If you like the more sophisticated look, TJ Maxx is a good start.

Marshalls homegoods Inexpensive Home Decor

Marshalls and HomeGoods recently conspired to interlock a few of their locations. Since TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods are all run by the same company, this was a smart more on their part.

HG furniture Inexpensive home decorThese two stores were beginning to be overrun by bigger warehouse type stores like At Home. Now that they are combined, they are able to offer lower prices which is a win for everyone, even the company. Ever since combining the two together, they have seen an astonishing increase in profits because of how much traffic has grown within the stores.

Marshalls HomeGoods is basically just a small version of At Home. Offering competitive prices and a well-rounded offering of products, Marshalls HomeGoods is a great place to find your inexpensive home decor.

Antique Shops

antiques Inexpensive home decorAntique shops can be overwhelming for some people, but I find them exciting. They’re overwhelming for some because of the cluster of items they have everywhere you turn. But if you’re able to zone in and dig through it all, you are bound to find pieces you love.

Shops like this are a great place to find some of the most inexpensive home decor. I have been able to find things as cheap as $5! One local antique shop even let me rent one of the bigger decorative pieces for a party once.

Redone Antique Inexpensive home decorAlso, if you like the “Do It Yourself” aspect of today’s world, you should definitely visit antique shops. If you’re looking for a project for your home make over you can find the base product here and then restore it to fit your style. Or, if you like the more vintage style, leave it as it.

If you are look for more “ready to go” pieces, antique shops may not be the place for you.

Recipes for Seniors That Are Quick & Easy

Recipes for Seniors That Are Quick & Easy

Having quick and easy recipes on hand for meals throughout the day is a great way to ensure that you won’t be wasting your time in the kitchen, but rather enjoying time with your family and doing other activities.

Recipes for Seniors That Are Quick & Easy

Some people think that seniors have all the time in the world after retiring, but they would be wrong. Yes, in retirement, we no longer work at a desk all day, but we pick up many new responsibilities that keep you preoccupied. When you’re always on the go, it’s easy to forget to eat. However, remembering to have your three meals of the day is very important, especially in older age. So, that’s why I have come up with some great recipes that are quick and easy to make for that busy senior.

Having quick and easy recipes on hand for meals throughout the day is a great way to ensure that you won’t be wasting your time in the kitchen, but rather enjoying time with your family and doing other activities. Also, if you still work, easy, no-cook recipes are perfect for lunch ideas at the office.

Below is one quick and easy recipe for each meal of the day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You will find the necessary ingredients for each recipe and brief directions on how to prepare the meal.

Egg and Avocado Toast Recipes for SeniorsBreakfast: Egg and Avocado Toast

This is quite possibly one of the quickest breakfast recipes out there. With very little prep work, you are sure to be able to get out the door on time. This recipe does not require many ingredients either. Which is always a plus in my book!

Ingredients: 2 pieces of bread
                    1 avocado
                    2 eggs
                    salt and pepper

One of the things I love about this recipe is that you can always tweak it to better satisfy your taste buds. My taste buds, on the other hand, enjoy it this way.

Start by lightly toasting your bread. I like to use wheat bread for my toast. Then, scoop out the avocado from the peel and mash it up using a fork. Feel free to add seasoning to you avocado. I just use salt and pepper. From there, you’ll want to spread the avocado onto your pieces of toast. Now, you can fry your eggs. My favorite way to eat fried eggs is over medium. I find it to be less messy than over easy with this meal. Put one egg on each of your pieces of toast and you’re done!

no-cook black bean saladLunch: No-Cook Black Bean Salad

Anytime I find a recipe that doesn’t involve a stove or an oven, I get ecstatic! No-cook meals are great meals to pack for trips. If you plan on taking a road trip, throw a cooler in your trunk with a few ingredients and you’ll be set for when lunch time rolls around.

Ingredients: mixed salad greens
                    15 oz of black beans
                    cherry tomatoes
                    1 avocado
                    sliced red onion
                    corn
                    2 tbs of olive oil
                    salt and pepper

You may have noticed that I didn’t provide an amount for each ingredient. This is because this recipe, just like the first one, can be completely customized to your liking. That’s one of my favorite things about salads. You put out all the options, and each person gets to make their own personal salad. Instead of trying to please multiple mouths.

Because this meal doesn’t require you to cook anything, this becomes the easiest recipe in this article. Grab a bowl, toss some salad in it, add your favorite toppings, then a little bit of olive oil. That’s it! You’re good to go.

Grilled Chicken Caesar Spinach WrapDinner: Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap

Dinner seems to always require a bit more elbow grease than breakfast and lunch. So, don’t be nervous when I say “grilled”. This recipe is a very healthy choice that will have your taste buds screaming for more.

Ingredients: spinach wraps
                    1 skinless, boneless chicken breast
                    1 romaine heart
                    1 avocado
                    1 tbs of olive oil
                    salt and pepper

Just like the other recipes, this is a recipe you can put your own twist on. If you want to add tomatoes, add them! If you want to add black olives, add them! There are unlimited options when it comes to ingredients for wraps.

Begin by tearing apart your romaine heart into tiny pieces. Throw it into a bowl so you can add the olive oil and salt and pepper. Lay out your spinach wrap. Put a generous amount of your grilled chicken on it. For the avocado, you can either mash it up, or use avocado slices. Whichever you prefer. Then finish by adding your romaine to the top. Roll the wrap up tightly and there you go. A delicious, healthy meal for dinner.

There You Have It. Three recipes for seniors looking for quicker and easier options. These meals are personally some of my all-time favorites, but I want to learn yours!
